Laurentian University says there’s now a third case of COVID-19 in residence.
This comes just under two weeks of the residence’s previous two cases being resolved.
In an email sent to students, the school said “We currently have a third case of COVID-19 affecting an individual in residence who has been self-isolating. Public Health Sudbury and District has completed contact tracing.”
The university added that it continues to work with Public Health Sudbury as the “health and safety of our community is our top priority.”
Despite students questioning the secrecy of the confirmed cases in residence, Public Health said it “does not share details about individual cases of COVID-19 unless sharing is required to protect the public’s health.”
Public Health said that “this can be personal information and people need to trust us to protect it.”
Laurentian is reminding students “that as a community, we have a shared responsibility to continue to strictly adhere to public health regulations – through frequent hand-washing, physical distancing and wearing face coverings.”
