The Pub Downunder is offering a new event to students who needed a break during midterm season. Bachelorette nights!
The popular reality T.V. series that has won the hearts of viewers across North America was brought to Laurentian’s campus by the SGA.
The viewing parties began in October, and despite the interruption of the US election last week, are expected to continue on Tuesday nights weekly.
Students of age can settle down with pizza and a glass of wine—the drink special of the evening— and watch the many contestants battle for the heart of this season’s Bachelorette, Clare Crawley. Underage students are still encouraged to watch the drama, but will not be served alcohol.
Ben MacKenzie, Vice President of Student Life, is a huge fan of The Bachelorette, which inspired him to incorporate the show into campus life.
“We wanted to come up with a creative way to give students living on campus a fun night out in a safe environment that lets them relax and take a break from school,” MacKenzie said.
“This also lets a lot of students who do not have cable the chance to catch their favourite shows live,” he said.
The SGA hosted a poll last week on their Instagram story asking students what other programs they would like to see at the watch parties. Mackenzie announced that because of the success of The Bachelorette on Tuesdays, they are now adding Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy on Thursdays.
Pub’s doors open at 7:30 for the show’s start at 8 pm and is open until 10 at night.
