Welcome Week 2016: Frosh Kit Breakdown

By Jessica Robinson, Editor-in-Chief

What you got and what to do with it: we’re breaking down the swag that made up your 2016 Frosh Kit.

Sudbury Dental Hygiene: Get your cleanings on campus! You can use the SGA-provided health plan, or your parents’ plan if you’re still on it. They provided you a toothbrush, some mouthwash, and floss to tide you over until you make your appointment.

SGA: Lanyard, water bottle, and sunglasses, oh my! The SGA gifted you some branded seasonal essentials to make use of during Welcome Week. There’s also a card with the details for the SGA app (for iOS and Android), and how you can use it to learn more about your student benefits.

Contiki: Contiki specializes in student travel trips, so they dropped off a guidebook for you to use when planning your next vacay.

Topper’s Pizza: This year, your “buy ten pizzas, get one free” card came as a magnet; stick it on your fridge so you remember to keep track when you’re storing the leftovers (if there are any…). Plus, the staple red Toppers cup, of course.

Canadian Blood Services: Alongside your cookie packet is a card listing the time place you can stop by to donate blood on campus. This is super important (we’re talking life-saving important), so we’re going to re-list those details here:

Fraser Building – Alumni Hall
Wed. September 14, 2016
11:30am to 3:30pm

West Residence – Room W132
Mon. October 31, 2016
11:30am to 3:30pm

Laurentian Voyageurs: Athletics has an app too! Download it ASAP to find out about intramurals, fitness classes, the climbing tower and more (info in the pamphlet provided).

Cinefest: The Sudbury equivalent to TIFF, Cannes, or any other favourite film festival you might love; the galas, or even just the screenings, are totally worth your time. It would make for a cool floor event! Check out the guide in your kit – there are 130 films to choose from.
