Aboutface. portraits focus on Sudbury homeless

By Vanessa Di Feo

From Dec. 12 until Jan. 12, Cambrian College’s Open Studio will be hosting an exhibition of portraits of local homeless individuals, entitled Aboutface.

The purpose of this exhibition is to challenge views of Sudbury’s less fortunate.

In November, students, alumni, and faculty of Cambrian College’s Graphic Design Program visited the Samaritan Centre’s Outreach Services. Not only did they photograph the Centre’s clients, they listened to their stories and hardships. Aboutface. is the actual exhibition of the work described above.

Cambrian College’s Open Studio is an exhibition program by the college’s art students and local professionals. The work featured at this studio ranges from contemporary design to animation. It is located at 93 Cedar St., on the third floor.

After the opening reception, the art work featured there can be viewed on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from noon until 3:00 p.m., on Fridays, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., and on Saturdays, from noon until 4:00 p.m. Private group tours are available by appointment, which can be booked by emailing leesa.bringas@cambriancollege.ca.

Admission to Aboutface. is free; moreover, all of the proceeds from the art work are being donated to the Samaritan Centre’s Outreach Services.
