  1. Time to interview some students about this SGA president issue I think

  2. Into disrepute
    By anonymous
Embattled SGA President Charlie Andrews has repeatedly said after the embarrassing and well deserved call for his resignation that the board did not act in a way which a student government should. Well Charlie, it works both ways.
In the day ahead of the ratification of his re-election bid, the board magically grew in size with a number of questionable appointments by department chairs which quite frankly could not care less about the SGA, or ensuring that the students in their department can spell SGA or little alone care if their departments are properly represented on the SGA Board. We have seen this tactic again and again this year with this president who takes his duty to report to the board about as seriously as his duty to spend student money carefully and not waste it on a $200,000 renovation to the pub without going to tenders or RFPs.
Just like you cannot choose to ignore the constitution, you equally cannot ignore to undermine its principles midgame. You cannot appoint random students in your fan club to the board in order to escape the consequences of a year’s worth of mismanagement, bullying and threatening faculty and students while appearing to be a savior to the gaggle of teenage girls who think you are cool, like a psychotic Sex and the City figure. This man’s appeal to anyone who sees past his fake act lasts a total of five seconds.
It is time that the students of Laurentian University finally put this year of horrors to rest and elect someone, anyone who can bring saneness back to the SGA. When this happened this overgrown professional idiot will finally no longer represent me as a student, and will actually bring some pride back to the academic side of our institution. Mr Andrews, you have brought our student body into disrepute, and for that you must pay.

  3. I would like LAMBDA to look into Iain Parks abuse of power and conflict of interest. Iain who works for the SGA in the capacity of running student events is now using his SGA title to secure events for his own personal financial benefit outside of the school. First off representing his own personal event in some relation to the SGA is a lie and abuse of his title. Second running events both for the SGA and then going and running events on his own is a huge conflict of interest in his position.

  4. Yah I agree on the Iain Parks thing. I also heard he is using the dj equipment he bought with SGA money for his own personal use and at his independent events. Do you think he is paying a rental fee to the SGA for its use? How is it fair that he is abusing student money for his own gain? Not to mention that the dj equipment purchase was a waste of student money in the first place. WHY DOES THE SGA EVEN NEED DJ EQUIPMENT?

And if he is booking events for the SGA and for himself how can there be a clear distinction? What if something bad happens at his own event (stabbing etc) will it blow back on the SGA because he also doing events for us?

And how do we know he isn’t making some kind of deals with the people he is booking these events with. Like making the SGA pay more money for an artist from a certain management company and then getting another artist from the same management company for cheap for his own event.

He is playing both sides and it isn’t right!
If anyone needs to be impeached it’s him… Wasn’t he the one really pushing the whole Charlie Andrews thing?

  5. And yet still, at this point in time nothing has been done to regulate Ian’s abuse of power and sketchy ways.
