Pumpkin spiced things to try this fall

By Taylor Squires, Lambda Columnist

For many of us, this particular season is considered to be one of the most wonderful times of the year: that’s right, I’m talking about the pumpkin spiced season.

If you’re planning on buying any candles, body lotions, air fresheners, drinks or desserts during the months of September and October, it goes without saying that you can find the pumpkin spiced version of that same product pretty much anywhere and everywhere.

Although I am a huge fan of fragrant items and scented goods, I wanted share five delicious pumpkin spiced edibles that you should try this season that are near campus.

Tim Horton’s Pumpkin Spiced Tea with a Pumpkin Spiced Donut

Tim Horton’s just launched a new fall-inspired promotion and I for one, am not mad about it.

It’s cheap, it’s delicious, and we have one right here on campus.

I’m a big fan of coffee and teas so when the pumpkin spiced tea came out, I had to give it a try. I paired it with the pumpkin spiced donut and I have to say, I would highly recommend both. In addition to the tea and the donut, Tim Horton’s also offers tons of other fall harvest flavored treats such as pumpkin spiced muffins, caramel apple bagels, pumpkin pie lattes, apple pie fritters and pumpkin pie iced cappuccinos.

The Laughing Buddha’s Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake

If you like pumpkin pie and if you’re a fan of cheesecake, I am about to give you the answer to all of your pumpkin spiced needs.

It’s no secret that The Laughing Buddha has amazing cheesecake — they are constantly switching up their toppings and bringing new and exciting flavors to the table.

So when I went in for lunch a few days ago and saw that they were offering a pumpkin pie cheesecake, I called it fate and order one.

It was phenomenal and getting to The Laughing Buddha is only a short bus ride from campus to downtown. The Buddha is a local Sudbury fan-favorite and is sure to not disappoint.

Dairy Queen’s New Pumpkin Pie Blizzard

Despite the fact that the majority of us want to wear scarves, boots, and sweaters the second school starts, we can’t deny the fact that there are still some really warm days in September and October.

So if you want to still celebrate the fall but you’re wearing shorts, try picking up one of DQ’s new pumpkin pie blizzards. So much whipped cream, so much ice cream, and so much goodness.

There are a couple of locations in Sudbury, however if you’re on campus, the nearest DQ is the one on Regent Street in the South End.

Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spiced Latte

Of course, this list would not be complete without including the pumpkin spiced latte from Starbucks. There’s also a location on campus, which offers the perfect PSL stop before heading to class.

**Student savings tip: if you join Starbucks’ loyalty program, you get a free drink on your birthday as well as the chance to earn points towards free food and drink rewards throughout the year. Do you find coffee tastes better when it’s free? Or is that just me?

Salute Coffee Company’s Pumpkin Muffin with Cream Cheese Filling

Salute Coffee Company is a relatively new coffee shop in Sudbury and it is delicious. Right now, they are offering a pumpkin muffin with cream cheese filling.

This goes without saying but the key words to remember here are cream cheese. Amazing. Definitely something you have to try this season.

Salute Coffee Company is located on Armstrong Street, which is a short bus ride away from campus.

**Student Savings Tip: It’s a really good idea to follow Salute Coffee Company on Instagram (@salute_coffee) because they post all of their new promos on their page.
