Pub Downunder opens for another year

By Kallie Berens

At 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 11, dedicated pub patrons found their way down to Laurentian’s only watering hole on campus.

Ordering Bud Light, Jordan Jackson, Jordan Faggioni and Eric Carriére in the Commerce program were the first customers of the day.

“It’s a really relaxing environment to hang out on campus,” Faggioni said.

Pub manager Cheryl Powell is looking forward to the new year.

“We have lots of great ideas coming up,” she said.

The pub recently extended their hours to be open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 12 to 6 p.m.

“Our first event of the year is on Saturday, we are putting on our first country night of the year,” said Powell.

In addition to country nights, a pub staple, Powell added that they are working on hiring a new person to work on promotions in order to bring more events to the site.

Powell also said to look forward to new promotions pertaining to Laurentian’s new hockey teams in the new season.

A list of pub events are available in the SGA student handbook, available at the V-Desk.
